PupBox Picks: A Teething Product Guide

Puppy teething is nothing to mess around with #supercereal. Your pup needs a variety of chews to aid in the process. From rubber stuffable toys to freezable chews and indestructible options, your pup is going to go through them all.

Examples of puppy teething products:

The products below are arranged in the order you may need them, so the first items on the list are needed for a younger pup and the later items are better for your adolescent/teenage pup.

Puppy Kong:

The stuffable design will keep your puppy busy for hours! Stuff it with some peanut butter or treats and let your puppy go wild. The soft rubber is perfect for teething gums.

Multipet Chilly Bone:

Freezable toys are a great way to soothe the aching gums of your teething furbaby. Just add water, freeze, and enjoy!

Bully Stick or Steer Stick:

An all time favorite and perfect solution for teething pups. Bully’s are great for teething puppies because they are not as hard as other bones. When the bully gets small enough to swallow make sure to take it away and replace it with another!

Gnawsome Squeak and Light Ball:

It squeaks, it bounces, it lights up, and the ridges feel great on your pup’s sensitive gums. Bumpy toys like the Gnawsome ball will massage gums as your pup bites down.

Petqwerks Flavorit (or BarkBone for heavier chewers):

These bones are made from nylon so they offer tougher chew resistance than your typical rubber toy, but still, provide a little give for those newly developed teeth. The Flavorit has flavor modules that can be filled in with peanut butter or another spread for increased enjoyment. The Barkbone is made of the same nylon material but has a bit more girth for those heavy chewers.

Starmark Groovy Ball or Treat Orb:

As your pup enters adolescence and the destructive teething begins, look to some interactive chew toys. The more interactive the toy, the busier you pup will be trying to figure it out. Starmark Academy offers some great interactive toys with the Groovy Ball and the Treat Orb being two of our faves.

Tuff Plushies:

It is hard to find an indestructible tough toy. Probably because truly indestructible plush toys don’t exist. Some may claim ultimate toughness, but if your pup loves to shred toys then be prepared to deal with the fluff. A couple great plushies include the Kong Ballistic Friends, Tuffy’s Gear, and all of the ToughGuard products from our friends at GoDog.

Marrow Bone or Antler:

As your pup gets older, it is time to graduate to some harder chews. We like Marrow Bones and Antlers because they offer the most resistance to tough chewers. Beware of chews that can splinter, as they can be dangerous to those mega chompers out there.
